Homewood is committed to supporting local service organizations, schools, and charities, and has made countless donations in the past. Each year, we receive many requests for donations. Our goal is to support causes related to gardening and horticulture as well as assist local hunger organizations.

HIGHLIGHT: SOLA COFFEE CAFE HOT MINI 5K TO END ALS: Jeanne and John Luther founded Sola Coffee Cafe and grew it into a thriving local hub that elevated the entire shopping center around it and reinvigorated it. The Luthers are friends with the Stoffregens who own and run Homewood. A few years ago, Jeanne was diagnosed with ALS and in 2022 passed away from the disease. Since diagnosis, the Luthers have held a 5K charity run to fundraise for ALS research to end this terrible disease. Homewood is proud to be a major sponsor of the the Hot Mini 5K and fondly remember the kind, generous, creative, and amazing force of nature and incredible spirit that was Jeanne Luther.
HIGHLIGHT: HOPE REINS - Their mission is to pair a rescued horse with a hurting child and a session leader to guide the child through the healing process and help them become resilient. The "rescue" happens several ways: rescuing plants that would go into the compost pile and planting them in the gardens at Hope Reins. The session leaders also use this analogy with helping hurting kids. Rescued horses and rescued plants, just like the kids are being rescued at Hope Reins. And the gardens look beautiful and most of the plants not only survive but thrive which shows the kids they can do the same. Not only does Homewood donate plants, but our Greenhouse Manager, Denise Etheridge and our president's wife, Myra Leigh Stoffregen donate many hours of their time.
HIGHLIGHT: NC VICTIM ASSISTANCE NETWORK: Through advocacy, training, and technical assistance, North Carolina Victim Assistance Network supports the rights and well-being of surviving loved ones of homicide victims and others harmed by violent crime in North Carolina. NCVAN provided services, resources, and referrals to over 876 loved ones of homicide, victims of violence, friends, and family since January 2019. Their memorial garden in downtown Raleigh serves as a place for loved ones of homicide victims to remember and reflect. Homewood donates almost all of the plants that are growing in the garden and communications director, Tina Mast, helps run the work days throughout the year that keep the garden planted and maintained.
